It emphasizes the benefits of human connection through the therapeutic relationship, which allows an individual to process their past experiences, deepen their self-awareness, and learn how to form and maintain healthy relationships.

Welcome to Psychotherapy with Tessenie. I honour your bravery in reaching out for help in a capitalistic, ableist society that favours individualism. I am so excited for you to lean into the support of a therapeutic relationship. The foundational element to our work together is the therapeutic relationship where I center your individual experience with consideration for systemic, cultural, and political factors that influence our quality of life and relationships.

As a Black, queer, fat, Jamaican immigrant woman, my intersecting identities inform a large part of my work. I am a person-centred/strength-based therapist with a relational and somatic orientation.

I work from a decolonial, anti-oppressive, culturally humble, and anti-racist framework which encourages authenticity and collaboration in the therapeutic space. This co-created space will be for you to show up with your lived experiences and I will show up with the tools I have obtained from my personal and professional experiences.
